Late last month, Ubisoft executives said in an interview that gamers don’t get the benefits of NFTs. It looks like the company has the same perception of its devs also. The publisher has reportedly held a workshop for its devs to address concerns, as well as giving out NFTs to the Ghost Recon dev team.

Kotaku reports that following the “gamers don’t get it” interview, some of the internal developers at Ubisoft voiced similar opposition. But the publisher’s response was the workshop mentioned above. And that ended up with the same “they don’t get it” tone. Nicolas Pouard, Ubisoft VP of Strategic Innovations Lab reiterated the tired inter-games nature of NFTs, but he admitted that the interoperability question remains unanswered.

The report also mentions an NFT hat for the developers of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. These were given out around the same time Ubisoft announced its Quartz platform, and were part of the series’ 20th anniversary.

All in all, it looks like Ubisoft is going all in with NFTs, despite all the pushback from inside and outside of the company. But it’s definitely not the only one. Konami is also set to churn out more, considering the success it had with its Castlevania NFTs.
