PETALING JAYA: Recipients of the Covid-19 vaccine from Sinovac Biotech, CoronaVac, along with those aged above 60 who have not received their booster doses and have contracted Covid-19 previously, will be given a three-month grace period before losing their fully vaccinated status.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, MySejahtera encouraged those concerned to receive their booster doses to retain their fully vaccinated status.

It added that these recipients were also allowed to select their preferred time and venue to receive their booster doses.

Previously, the Health Ministry said CoronaVac recipients and those aged 60 and above would lose their fully vaccinated status beginning April 1 if they do not receive a booster dose by March 31.

The deadline for the group had been extended from Feb 28 before.

Meanwhile, the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reminded the public that the country is only in a transition phase to endemicity and has yet to enter the endemic phase.

He said the standard operating procedure should be practised to ensure Malaysia could move to the next phase safely.

He said during the transition phase to endemicity, the community needs to learn to live with the Covid-19 virus in ways that are least disruptive by adopting public health measures to protect themselves, their families and others.

“The management of the Covid-19 pandemic needs to shift from reliance on government interventions such as on SOPs and existing laws to individual responsibility and community solidarity,” Dr Noor Hisham said yesterday.
