KUALA TERENGGANU: Another carcass of a green turtle (penyu agar) with bricks tied to its body was found washed up on Teluk Bidara Beach near Dungun.

It was believed to have been intentionally harmed, Abidah Zaaba, the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch Conservation project manager at the Tanjong Jara Resort told Bernama.

She said bricks were tied to the dead turtle in an attempt to weigh it down to the seabed.

“This irresponsible act may be the work of fishermen who want to prevent turtles from accidentally getting entangled in their nets,” she said yesterday.

On Thursday, a dead female green turtle was found floating in the waters of Pulau Kapas near Marang. It had a cut on its neck.
