FORTY Indian students received a total of RM100,000 in education assistance from Koperasi Nesa Pelbagai Bhd, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Board chairman Datuk P. Shashi Kumar said Nesa had consistently been among the 100 best performing co-operatives in the country.

Since 2001 it has given out RM700,000 in education assistance to 700 students. The funds are meant for tertiary education and to reduce the families’ financial burden.

“The cooperative will continue providing financial aid to Indian students in the coming years,” said Shashi.

The artisans at the shop decided to make the cake to honour the chief minister for his leadership.

The nearly 6ft-tall cake was made with 90kg of sugar and 80 eggs.
