A FATHER in Kangar had to stop working to care for his only child who has cancer, Kosmo! reported.

Mohd Iqbal Zamani Nor, 45, said he quit his job as a production manager at a furniture factory so that he could provide care for his daughter, Nur Insyirah Balqis, 13, after she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on March 22.

“We were devastated when Nur Insyirah was diagnosed with blood cancer on her birthday.

“She has undergone continuous cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, at the Penang General Hospital over the past few months, to the point that she felt like the hospital had become her second home.

“The treatment was initially going well, but in late October, blast cells (which should not be in a healthy person’s bone marrow) suddenly started spreading by around 70%, resulting in her needing even more intense treatment and care,” he said.

Mohd Iqbal said his daughter was also receiving psychiatric support to treat her depression and anxiety.

His wife Nur Sakina Azmi, 25, who works as a seamstress supports the family now. They are also getting aid from the Social Welfare Department and Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council.
