SUNGAI BULOH: Although the use of face masks on school premises is no longer mandatory, Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin recommends that its usage be continued for the protection of all.

Through a video clip on his official Facebook page, Radzi said that the wearing of face masks – be it indoors or outdoors – especially in crowded places, is still encouraged.

“In addition, students who travel by school bus are reminded to wear them at all times.

“Most importantly, we must ensure the school environment is safe,” he said.

He added that more information regarding the use of face masks in schools will be included in a media statement to be issued later.

He said this following the announcement by the Health Ministry on Sept 7, which stipulated that the wearing of face masks inside buildings is now up to individuals.

However, it will remain mandatory on public transportation such as buses, airplanes, and at health facilities and care centres.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin mentioned that premises owners can impose the wearing of face masks on those seeking to enter and spend time in their establishments to curb the spread of the virus.

Despite the lifting of the restriction, he said people were advised to keep their masks on as it stops the spread of Covid-19.
