I don’t know whether you noticed it through the news and social but the air is full of election vibes right now. After all, there are only 18 days left before the 15th Malaysian general election (GE15) takes place.
Previously, I have touched on how to check your voter status through MySPR Semak’s website and mobile apps. The process is rather simple and only takes just a few minutes of your time.
The Election Commission has since made the platform even more useful as voters everywhere can now check the exact location of their polling station through it. Previously, MySPR Semak’s search results only showed the general details of your voting location.
The voting poll station listing even includes your specific voting channel at the station. What impressed me the most is the fact that it also showed the recommended time to cast your vote over there.
On the mobile app, there is also a function that would allow users to check the location of their polling station via selected map apps that is somehow specific to the operating system of your devices. On Apple devices, the only option was Apple Maps while on Android devices, users can choose either Google Maps or Waze.
However, I received the error below when I tried to utilise the option on both iPhone 14 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. The error kept on popping up regardless of the map apps that I chose:
It is not known whether EC will fix this feature anytime soon or even remove it altogether. Hence, I definitely recommend you to identify the location of your polling station early on, especially for the first-time young voters out there that are eligible to cast their vote in GE15 thanks to the new minimum voting age of 18 years old and automatic voter registration.
