iPhone 13

Ming-Chi Kuo has shared his latest predictions on this year’s upcoming iPhone models which are tentatively referred to as the iPhone 14 series. According to the renowned Apple analyst, the company – like every year – is expected to introduce its next generation flagship chipset, the A16 Bionic, along with its new phones. However, he also believes that not all models under the series will feature it.

Kuo says that Apple may only equip its new A16 chip on the high-end variants, namely the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The non-Pro models, he added, would come with last year’s A15 Bionic processor, which may certainly disappoint fans if this is proven true.

The analyst did not mention why he believes the company would opt to have its latest flagship mobile chip as a Pro model exclusive – a move that it has not repeated since the introduction of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C all the way back in 2013. It is also unclear whether the A15 chips on the alleged current generation Apple phones would feature any kind of upgrades.

Speaking of upgrades, Kuo also says that all iPhone 14 models will come with 6GB RAM. Specifically, the high-end models will feature the new LPDDR5 memory, while the non-Pro variants will retain the same LPDDR4X RAM as last year’s releases.

Additionally, he also believes that Apple, for the first time, would introduce a Max variant for the non-Pro versions of the iPhone 14. This particular model will sport a 6.7-inch display, the analyst added. Notably, it appears that the introduction of this new variant would see the discontinuation of the “mini” models from this year’s list. As pointed out by Kuo, the lineup would only consist of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 pro Max.

As usual, the information provided is unofficial and could end up being inaccurate once Apple finally decides to formally announce the iPhone 14 lineup. On that note, an official reveal won’t be coming anytime soon, as the company traditionally saves such occasions for the Fall season.
